Database driven web site I created using PHP and MySQL for a group of airline pilots, technicians and government representatives. The site is linked directly to the FAA's web site and is used by airline pilots to track and resolve aircraft radio frequency interference (RFI). I created a database driven map of the USA using the GD graphics library I compiled in with the Linux web server. Click on an uncolored state (dark green) on the RFI Hot Spots page to see the dynamic image update. I also created an upload utility for pilots, discussion forum, email listserv, news articles, database export application and a pages viewed tracking section. Registered users are assigned one of three different access levels: Member, Manager, or Administrator. Users can access only certain sections of the site depending on their authorized access level.

http://www.NightClub-Design.com

A database driven web site I created using PHP and MySQL for Telesco Associates, a Nightclub Design company located in Bay Harbor Islands Florida. I also helped create 2D visualizations and 3D renderings used in some of their projects for clients. The company is responsible for the most successful nightclub venues in South Beach and perhaps the country. The team has designed clubs as far south as Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands and as far north as Detroit, Chicago and Manhattan. Please make sure to check out the Projects Section for photos and 3D renderings of nightclubs.

Provestors Manufactured Homes

One of my most recent projects where I modified the layout from Broward.org and created a new database-driven PHP / MySQL powered web site. Administrators have complete control of the site and can update content and upload photos for home listings. Provestors owners and management are striving to be the source of cheap homes for the South Florida area and beyond. They are focused on providing the "American Dream" of owning a home as an alternative to renting for people who do not qualify for conventional financing, or for people who can not afford a conventional single family home due to skyrocketing real estate appreciation.

Retail phone card distributors finally have a reliable way of increasing profit margins, gaining customer loyalty and also keeping up with the industry's technological demands. I helped create this network of database-driven web sites using PHP and MySQL for Global PCD, a calling card / electronic goods shopping cart completely integrated with PayPal. I also created an affiliate system where retailers pay commissions for members who join the program:

PinsToGo.com
CardToGo.com
Comunicateya.com
GenesisCallingCards.com

Biscayne Gardens Civic Association

This site was developed "pro bono" (as a public service) for the community where I live. Biscayne Gardens is currently seeking to incorporate, and I volunteered to create their web portal to spearhead the effort. This project started from a vanilla PostNuke CMS installation, but I made numerous changes from the source distribution. The login was modified to include groups (admins, board members, visitors) that each have different privileges on the system. I also programmed the site so that when a user uploads a large photo, it is automatically resized down to a manageable size. Many other changes were made to suit the specific needs of the Biscayne Gardens Civic Association.

Craigslist Automated Posting Tool

I created my Craigslist automated posting tool to allow me to automatically post classified ads to every city within the entire craigslist.org domain. I setup my program so that it will run through a list of categories and cities controlled by a custom database that I created. I usually post ads at random and update the database so that once an ad is posted to a specific category and city, the system will not update that ad unless it expires. The system monitors each and every ad posted by checking it on a daily basis. If an ad gets removed or is not on the first page of search results, the program can post the advertisement again so it appears on the top of the search list. [Craygo Hack]

Configuration of my personal FreeBSD Unix v4.7 server located in my house and is hosted over BellSouth ADSL. My bandwidth is about 3.0 Mbps down / 384 Kbps up and I use a free DNS service provided by DYNDNS.ORG since my IP address changes if I have to restart my primary router. It is used mainly as a development server so I can test out new code and any custom scripts I create. I created automated cron jobs so I can export the entire database from the aeroRFI.org web site I created, then GZIP and download it to this development server every night at 2AM. I am currently running Apache, FTP, PHP, MySQL, SSH, Telnet and standard mail daemons on my FreeBSD server. Located at: http://paulzimm.dyndns.org

Security Entry Solution Screen Shot

Screen shot of the original Security Entry Solution I helped develop for The Feick Corporation quite some time ago. This was a DOS-based program written in Pascal and some parts in Borland Delphi before I completely rewrote it for the Windows environment. The SES is used by gated communities and condominiums to control incoming visitor access.

SES 2000 Screen Shot

Updated SES 2000 I programmed using Microsoft Visual C++ running in a native 32-bit Windows environment. The SES 2000 is a PC-based system that assists security officers and home owners association personnel at gated communities in maintaining residents information while tracking temporary guests, permanent guests, employees, renters, security incidents, and vehicle information.

SES 2000 Voice Authorization

Updated SES 2000 Voice Authorization System I programmed using Microsoft Visual Basic with Artisoft TAPI Visual Voice OCX plugin running in a native 32-bit Windows environment. Allows residents to call an automated voice mail system to grant access to incoming guests. Residents can authorize guests up to one year in advance and for any range of dates. Uses Caller ID so residents do not need to remember a code to authorize their visitors. Fully integrated within the SES system, the security officer can listen to messages instantly. The guard is freed from constantly answering the phone for visitor clearance.

Security Entry Solution Network Schematic

Security Entry Solution (SES) Network Schematic I created using Visio and exported to Adobe Acrobat PDF format. It shows the complexity of an application I developed for The Feick Corporation. The SES is a PC-based system that assists security officers and home owners association personnel at gated communities in maintaining residents information while tracking temporary guests, permanent guests, employees, renters, security incidents, and vehicle information.

http://zimmermantech.com/altaira

Custom utility I created that takes real estate listings from the "Interealty Altaira / Stellar" application and allows a real estate broker to use their own property photos to print great looking glossy flyers and advertisements on their own printer. My utility allows the real estate agent to use up to four photos on one page without having to worry about resizing the images and adjusting confusing aspect ratios. The admin menu of my utility saves the pictures and real estate listings to a database so they can be accessed and printed at a later time. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in purchasing my custom utility.

http://www.brighthorizonsrealty.com

Database driven web site I created in PHP and MySQL for a real estate company based in New York. Real estate agents have the ability to add properties to their search engine and also upload photos (via an administrative menu) to each property listing. Management can update the online profile of their employees and sales agents by including details of their education, work experience and also add a photo to each employee's profile. Also created a custom database export / viewer utility so management can export the entire contents of their database to Microsoft Excel and create their own custom reports. Added several input forms and even a financial calculator so future homeowners can figure their estimated mortgage rate.

http://www.c1tv.com

Database driven web site I helped create in PHP and MySQL for the cable TV channel known as C1TV. Created an online loyalty system where visitors can sign up and become "preferred viewers" to receive notification of special offers and events. Also completely changed the layout and database structure of their shopping cart by adding hierarchical categories and integrating CyberCash for their online payment system. Created a personals section where users can find others online with similar interests. Also added a Java based TCP application so users can chat in real-time with one another and also add photos of themselves to their online profile.

Database driven web site created using Microsoft Active Server Pages running on Windows 2000 Server I installed and configured for Plexus M/2, Inc. The database engine is Microsoft SQL Server 7 which is connected via a data source name (DSN). Since the site is in multiple languages, for each item in the database there are three different versions of the content: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

http://www.grenadagrenadines.com

Database driven web site I created in PHP and MySQL for the Tourism Board of Grenada. Since the client already had all of their data (lodging, restaurants, museums, etc.) stored in a Microsoft Access database, the admin I created to update their site simply reads in their existing data exported from within Access. Used complex regular expressions to handle multi-line records exported to comma-delimited text files from within Access. Management simply chooses the table they want to update from within their admin menu, then clicks "browse" to search for and upload the file to the web server. My utility then parses through the exported data and integrates it into the MySQL database.

Web site created using Macromedia Flash with some dynamic content via PHP and MySQL. I updated their shopping cart to include different product sizes and shipping methods. Created a news articles section and also a links list that allows management to upload content and images to their site using an administrative menu I programmed. The images uploaded are automatically resized using the GD graphics library running on their web server so they are kept at a consistent size.

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "It is a surprise just waiting to be discovered by visitors fortunate enough to reach its shores. Not only does it offer lush, tropical surroundings, splendid and unusual pink-hued beaches, plus a bevy of cultural attractions and sporting options, Bermuda is blessed with a distinct air of British propriety and European flavor that make it unique. You will not only cherish memories of the islands' sherbet-toned homes, ubiquitous flower gardens and charming winding streets, but also of its gracious people, who are a little bit British, a little bit islander and always friendly."

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "Relaxation, tranquility and all bliss within the intimate luxury and comfort of spacious suites. Miles of powder soft sand, and an oasis of tropical gardens, all bathed in the gorgeous Caribbean sun and cooled by gentle trade breezes. Why stay anywhere else? A mere 85 minute flight from Miami lie Ocean Club and Ocean Club West, two all-suite resorts the likes of which few have ever experienced."

http://www.balharbourshops.com

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "Stanley Whitman developed Bal Harbour Shops in 1965 on what had been the site of a World War II army barracks, despite advice from experts in the shopping center industry who suggested that an apartment house would be more prudent. The triangular, 15.79 acre site is located within a block of both the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay at the intersection of two major arteries in Bal Harbour Village, Collins Avenue and 96th Street."

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "On March 12, 2002, The World was delivered from Fosen Mek Verksteder shipyard in Rissa, Norway to ResidenSea. Voyagers aboard The World have the opportunity to experience castles in Denmark, salsa lessons on the Mexican Riviera, world-renowned vineyards in Italy and France, the rare artisanship of the San Blas Islands and New Year’s Eve celebrations in Hawaii. Each year, residents and guests of this international community enjoy approximately 250 days in port with extended stays for in-depth exploration and world-renowned special events, such as the star-studded Cannes Film Festival and Monaco’s thrilling Grand Prix."

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes may appear to be a fairly new operation, playing top-notch Minor League ball since 1993, but in actuality, the franchise has been around for over 28 years, since 1966. After the 1965 Class A California League season, the team operating in Salinas folded, leaving only five teams remaining in the league. The league had operated with eight teams in the past and was therefore determined to get three more teams into play for the 1966 season."

Database driven web site I helped create while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. A quote from the site: "Welcome to the official web site for the United Way of Ventura County. Come in for a visit, take a look around and if you do not find what you are looking for, please e-mail us or give us a call. By contributing to the United Way of Ventura County, you make an investment in local human service agencies. The goal of our knowledgeable and trained volunteers is to maximize the return on your investment in the community."

http://paul.plexmedia.net/forms/

Online automatic code creator I programmed using PHP and MySQL while working at Plexus M/2, Inc. I created this application on my own time because it was very repetitious having to write just about the same code for every <form> template created by our graphic artists. Simply upload the template to the server by clicking the 'Browse' and 'Parse' buttons and then select the required database field types. The application is smart enough to know what database fields to use and will select default values automatically. Then name the database table and click the 'Create' button. It automatically creates the new database table for you in MySQL and gives you the form back with all the PHP code inserted automatically! A large form can take upwards of 4 hours to create while this application reduces the time down to only a couple of minutes.

Generic online database utility I coded in PHP to view, modify and export MySQL tables to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access in a comma delimited text format. I created this program because I wanted a simple way to manipulate database tables without always having to go to the Unix command line. The columns are sortable in either ascending or descending order by clicking on their field names on top row of the table. You can also edit a record by simply clicking on its record number in the left column. A great way for clients to make backups of their online data themselves without having to contact us in Engineering.

My TV Interview with WPLG10 about Hacking

I was featured on TV for a WPLG-10 Interview:

"Paul Zimmerman, a computer engineer, says these DSL and cable modem connections are great and can be safe but many of our computers are set up in such a way that we're inviting hackers right into our home. Using common programs for finding Internet addresses, Zimmerman looks one up and then links up. If the other person has not disabled File Sharing on their computer then Zimmerman could do anything. Here he just transfers a computer file over to another computer through the Internet. We should point out that Zimmerman does not hack into other peoples computer's. For this example he hacked into another computer in his house that uses a separate Internet connection."
